Fabio Quartararo concluded the 2020 season in just eighth place overall, having made a few too many mistakes and suffering from a lack of feeling with his Yamaha M1 in the final stages. Not the result the Frenchman was aiming for at the start of the season, having dominated the first two races at Jerez, but something good nevertheless came out of it.

And we’re talking about his performance in qualifying, good enough to earn him a new BMW M2, the prize he took home after proving to be the best rider on Saturdays. Thanks to four pole positions, Fabio Quartararo collected his prize at the last round of the season and couldn’t resist getting straight behind the wheel for a spin around the Portimao track.
“It’s always great to score pole position or a front row start”, commented the 21-year old, “and it’s also great to get a nice new car. I had a lot of fun testing it and can’t wait to take it for a lot more rides”. And now that the winter break begins, meaning that the riders are forced to take a rest, we’re sure he’ll have plenty of opportunity.
